Privacy for Oktapod iOS
Effective 26 September 2026 · Bundle ID: com.oktapod.ios
Oktapod iOS is a client for an agent you choose. It does not create an Oktapod account or host your agent. The app is developed by Edi Hasaj. For privacy questions, contact support@oktapod.ai.
Your chosen agent
The app sends messages and the photos, videos, files, and audio clips you choose to the agent you connect when you press Send. If you take a photo with Camera from the + menu, iOS asks for camera access the first time; the app receives only the photo you keep and uses the camera at no other time. The app keeps chosen file bytes in memory until then. The system pickers do not grant access to your whole library or file store. The app also sends requests when you use chat history, approvals, or the personality editor. An access key, if you provide one, is sent to that agent for authentication. Connections require HTTPS and use iOS certificate validation. On a private Tailscale deployment that supports identity sign-in, the app can use your verified Tailscale identity instead of an access key. That signed session stays in app memory and expires.
Your agent may use model providers, tools, or connected services to carry out a request. Its operator controls those connections, server storage, retention, and conversation access. Review that operator's policies before connecting. The Oktapod app developer does not automatically receive your conversations.
Data on your device
The app stores your selected agent address, access key if used, conversation identifier, draft, pending deliveries, and run receipts in device-only Keychain records. Conversation history is retrieved from your agent. Disconnect pauses reconnection. Forget this agent removes saved access and pending messages from this device; it does not delete server conversations or revoke server credentials. Ask the agent operator to remove server-held data.
System notifications
If you allow notifications, iOS gives the app an Apple Push Notification service device token. The app sends that token to your chosen agent so it can notify you about explicit agent events and completed work. Apple handles delivery. Reply alerts include a bounded message preview, subject to your iPhone's lock-screen settings.
If your agent does not hold its own notification keys, it asks the Oktapod push service at push.oktapod.ai to deliver the alert. The service receives the device token, notification kind, and a bounded preview for replies. It processes the preview for delivery without storing or logging its text. It keeps only short-lived rate-limit counters derived from a one-way hash of the token.
You can turn notifications off in iOS settings. Disconnect and Forget this agent ask the connected agent to remove its token when it is reachable. If it is offline, ask its operator to remove the token from that server.
Nearby discovery
Nearby discovery runs only when you ask for it. The app browses local services and checks candidate HTTPS endpoints for the Oktapod protocol. A discovery result is only a suggestion, not authorization to connect. iOS may request local network access; you can enter an agent address manually if you decline.
Dictation
When you tap the microphone in the message box, the app listens until you tap it again and uses Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into text in that box. Nothing is sent to your agent until you press Send. Recognition runs on the iPhone when your language supports it; otherwise iOS may send the audio to Apple to recognize it, under Apple's privacy policy. The app does not record, store, or send the audio itself, and it does not use the microphone at any other time. iOS asks for microphone and speech recognition permission the first time, and you can turn either off in Settings.
Diagnostics and other features
This iOS build does not send installation counts or automatic crash reports. It does not contain advertising, advertising identifiers, in-app payments, or phone-node automation. If you email support, send only details you choose to share and do not include access keys.
Changes and contact
This page will be updated when the app's data handling changes. For privacy questions, email support@oktapod.ai. For data held by your chosen agent or its providers, contact that operator.
